When installing cabinets and built-ins, consider taking them all the way to the ceiling.  You will make the room feel larger, maximize precious wall space and create a custom look.  Added bonus – you will never have to clean on top of your cabinets again – woohoo!  Taking tile to the top in bathrooms and kitchens makes for a pretty stunning effect as well.
